Lions land free signing from Leyton Orient
Millwall have secured the signing of defender Tamika Mkandawire on a two-year contract from Leyton Orient.
Mkandawire was out of contract at Orient, but had been offered an extension by manager Russell Slade to stay with the League One club.
However, the 27-year-old recently admitted it was time for a fresh challenge and he has accepted a move to Championship new boys Millwall.
"This is a great move for me," Mkandawire told the club's official website. "I'm really looking forward to playing in the Championship with Millwall.
"Having played against them last season and watched the play-off games I could see that there is a very good squad with a great team spirit at The Den.
"I know I will have to fight hard for a place in this side, but I will give it my best shot."
The centre-half, who was also linked with a move to Swansea City, scored 15 goals in 126 appearances for Orient after his arrival from Hereford United three years ago.
