Chelsea Football Club are again being linked with Jerko Leko.

The Blues were initially linked with the Croatian international prior to the opening of the transfer window, but the speculation has died down of late.

However, an injury to Michael Essien, suffered on Ghana duty at the African Cup of Nations, could force Carlo Ancelotti to think again.

Reports in The Times claim the Italian coach is considering making an offer for Leko, who has struggled to nail down a regular place at Monaco this season.

Indeed, the 29-year-old has made just two substitute appearances in Ligue 1, and would no doubt jump at the chance to move to the Premier League.

But, on the other hand, it could be argued that if he is struggling for a match at Monaco, then what chance would he have when Ancelotti has a fully-fit squad?
