Jason Koumas will not be heading to Newcastle United Football Club.

The midfielder has struggled to make an impact at Wigan Athletic under Roberto Martinez, who admits the Welshman may leave the club on loan.

It had been reported that the Magpies were eager to beat off competition from West Bromwich Albion for Koumas, but manager Chris Hughton has refuted these claims.

“There is nothing in that one," Hughton told the Evening Chronicle. "He's a good player, but not one that I think will be coming here."
