Chris Hughton fully expects to be backed by Newcastle United Football Club when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The Magpies boss was able to bring in Dan Gosling, Cheick Tiote, James Perch, Hatem Ben Arfa and Sol Campbell in the summer, as he added to his squad following promotion.

And Hughton believes his board will again allow him to make signings when the window reopens in January, with the club eager to avoid a return to the Championship.

"In January we will reassess what we have, and I think I'll get the backing of the owner again like last time if we need to strengthen the team at that stage,” he told The Chronicle.
