Newcastle United eyeing January Keane loan
03:30 PM 07 September, 2010
Newcastle United Football Club want to take Robbie Keane in the New Year.

The Republic of Ireland international has an uncertain future at White Hart Lane, having ended last season on loan at Celtic after falling down Harry Redknapp’s pecking order.

With Rafael van der Vaart expected to play in an advances role for Spurs this season Keane could cut a frustrating figure during the coming campaign.

The 29-year-old was linked with a number of clubs during the window, and it is widely believed Besiktas had a £9million bid accepted but the striker wasn’t keen on Turkey.

It is now being suggested by The People that the Magpies are willing to smash their wage structure to take Keane to St James Park on loan in January.

Should United then avoid an instant return to the Championship, Chris Hughton will look to make the deal permanent during next summer’s window.
