Demba Ba is not heading to Galatasaray, despite reports to the contrary.

The Senegal international enjoyed an impressive season with Newcastle United last term, but he has a release clause in his contract of around £7million.

It had been rumoured on Thursday that Gala had met this fee, and were now on the brink of luring the former West Ham United striker to Turkey.

However, it is believed that there is no deal in place for such a transfer, and the Magpies remain hopeful of tying Ba to a new contract without a release clause.
