Former star Paul McVeigh is training with the Canaries after his release by Luton Town.
“It's open ended," boss Bryan Gunn told the Evening News.
"Paul and I had a chat during the summer and he told me about his contractual situation.
"I said 'Come in and join us for pre-season'. There are no strings attached either way but if he impresses not only me, but the other coaches, who knows?"
Gunn is also running the rule over Cambridge City star Scott Neilson, a midfielder, but has said he will not be offering a contract to another former Canary, goalkeeper Andy Marshall, who is a free agent after leaving Coventry City.
