Nicky Shorey is a January target for Nottingham Forest Football Club.

Aston Villa paid around £3.5million to take the 28-year-old fullback from Reading in the summer of 2008, following the Royals relegation from the Premier League.

However, the move has been far from successful for Shorey, who has struggled to force his way into the first team plans of Martin O’Neill thus all but ending his World Cup hopes with England.

Stephen Warnock’s arrival has further pegged back his progress, and The Sun claim Championship side Forest hope to take him to the City Ground in a £3million January transfer.
