Oldham manager Dave Penney has scotched reports James Vaughan was on his way to Boundary Park.

Vaughan is currently with Australian side Wollongong and was rumoured to be a target for the Latics.

However, Penney told the club's official website: "Why would we move for a right-back when we have both Neal (Eardley) and Kelvin (Lomax) at the club?

"I can categorically say these reports are absolutely not true and I have no idea where they get these stories from.

"We are constantly looking to improve our squad but right-back is not a priority area for us at the moment."
