Port Vale are expected to name Micky Adams as their new boss on Friday.
The former Leicester City, Brighton and Coventry City manager is believed to have won the race to take the reins at the League Two club.
He will become Vale's fourth manager in the space of 21 months.
Vale finished 18th in League Two under Glover, in the club's first season in the bottom tier of the Football League for 22 years.
The former Leicester City boss conducted negotiations with chairman Bill Bratt after winning the backing of the club's nine-man board ahead of his only rival for the job, ex-Cheltenham boss John Ward.
