Avram Grant feels Portsmouth Football Club could have caused an upset at Old Trafford.

A scoreline of 5-0 to Manchester United would indicate only one team turned up on Saturday afternoon, but Grant insists his side were also in the race.

Had Nadir Belhadj’s effort not been saved by Edwin van der Sar, who then also denied Anthony Vanden Borre, the Pompey boss believes it would have been a different story.

"It was a crucial moment and Van der Sar made a save from Vanden Borre,” said Grant to Sky Sports. "If we had scored this goal everything would have been different."

Portsmouth remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table and seven points adrift of safety, whilst champions United have returned to the head of the standings.
