Andronikou offers Portsmouth fresh survival hope
The administrator in charge of Portsmouth Football Club, Andrew Andronikou, has revealed he will fight any point deduction inflicted on the Premier League’s bottom side.
Pompey went into administration last week, and the expected nine point deduction will leave them fourteen points off top-flight safety with eleven games remaining.
However, Andronikou has been speaking with the club’s solicitors, and he is of the opinion that any point deduction could be reversed upon appeal.
"The assumption that there is an automatic deduction of points has never been tested before but we will do our best to avoid a deduction," he said.
"Our solicitors believe there may be a slight opportunity but I don't want to say anything more because that prejudices my position in achieving it.”
