Preston star set to land summer Celtic switch?
10:41 AM 21 June, 2009
Sean St Ledger is being linked with a move to Glasgow once again after the arrival of Tony Mowbray as the new Bhoys boss.

Mowbray will be well aware of the 24-year-old after three impressive seasons in the Championship with Preston, whom he joined from Peterborough in 2006.

Also established in the Republic of Ireland set-up, St Ledger responded to talk of a move earlier in the summer by saying: "I fully expect to be at Preston when we report back for training on July 1, still learning from Alan Irvine, who is a great manager to play under and be coached by.

"The speculation doesn't turn my head in any way. I just see what's written in the papers and get on with it."

i cant see why you call bobo a money grabber,he was given a contract, and then asked to take a pay cut ,would you do that at your place of work,a couple of seasons ago everyone was frantic to keep him,now he,s a money grabber, people should remember those days not just the present,as for caldwell, yes he has played better this season, but it took a bit of time and cost us some important games,i see you dont mention mcmanus, does that mean you agree with some things i say

tommy how wright yu are excuse the pun there ,wee ginge wouldnt play bobo for some reason, money is the word but i dont think so, he was the best defender in scotland,a bit brash, a bit hard,so why o why didnt they play him instead of mcmanus ,and the over rated caldwll, odea i like him but the other 2 they dont match bobo in any way i hope tony gives bobo a life line for another season or 2 everyone will see the defence shut once and for all,do us all a favour tony, dont enter into contract talks with caldwell

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_(sports) It's a matter of preference, bud. I don't think the forward line was your problem last year. The strikers did underperform, though. McDonald was the only real threat in front of goal and the goal he scored against us at Christmas was just a perfect example of what he can do. Samaras is a donkey plain and simple and I think Venegoor is a streaky player, if he's confident he'll perform really well but if not then he'll play like he did last season. I do think that the Celtic back line is poor, though. I don't rate Loovens, Wilson, Doumbe, Kennedy (promising pre injury, though) or Naylor at all. The only Celtic defenders I hold in high regard are McManus and Caldwell (Even though Caldwell winning Player of the Year was nonsense). I reckon Celtic should give Misun a fair crack of the whip next season. A promising wee 19 year old could do Celtic the world of good if he gets off on the right foot. Too many cheap goals lost to mid table teams is what lost Celtic the title last year. Not saying the strike force couldn't have done better but I'd shoulder about 70% of the blame with the back line.

Celtic need as many defenders as they can get! Speaking as a Rangers fan here I'm actually glad to see a Celtic manager has sense for once. The defense has been Celtic's crux for the past few years. Although winning the title on the spin 3 times they were pretty leaky. If their defense was better in 08/09 maybe they'd have gotten 4 in a row?
