Preston North End won’t pay over the odds for their transfer targets.
The League One club have already brought in 13 new names since the end of last season, but Graham Westley has failed with a recent bid to sign a striker.
And chairman Peter Ridsdale insists he will not pay over the odds to secure the Lilywhite’s transfer targets, despite their ambition to launch a promotion bid.
"We have identified the need for a striker and we have had our targets all summer," he told the club's official website. "We have made a bid for our number one target.
“That turned down. We will not over-pay for players and must work within our budget, but we have money available and we will continue to try and strengthen the squad in the areas we need to."
