Portsmouth Football Club have had an offer of £1.8million accepted for Tommy Smith.

The Premier League side are desperate to bolster their options before the deadline of September 1, after losing their opening three fixtures.

Paul Hart has seen an offer accepted for Watford ace Smith, 29, who also has the option of remaining in the Championship with Reading who have also had a bid accepted.

"Watford can this evening confirm that the club has received and accepted an offer from Portsmouth for attacker Tommy Smith," the club stated on their official website.
