Darren O’Dea is set to spend the season on loan at Reading Football Club.

The 22-year-old defender is concerned about the lack of first team opportunities he may get at Celtic this season, but the Bhoys are reluctant to sell him.

To confirm how much the Scottish side rate him they have offered the player a new contract, although they will let him gain regular first team football by loaning him out to the Royals.

O’Dea, a Republic of Ireland international, is said to have agreed a three-year deal with the Parkhead club, but his focus will now be on sealing up a leaky back four at the Madejski Stadium.
