Reading Football Club hope to agree a deal for Adrian Mariappa this week.

Having secured promotion to the Premier League, Royals manager Brian McDermott is now busy considering his options for their big return next season.

The Madejski Stadium manager is keen to bolster their heart of his back four, and it is believed Mariappa has emerged as his top target.

McDermott is thought to have already made a move for the 25-year-old, who is in the final year of his Watford contract and could be available for £2.5million.
