Adkins looks to Wembley inspiration

The Iron take on Millwall in the League One play-off final only seven weeks after their Johnstone's Paint Trophy final loss to Luton.

"It (the experience) is going to be very beneficial," Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins said. "That experience of having been to Wembley and sampled it.

"It's not nice to lose at Wembley, believe me, but we tried to gather that feeling straight away.

"So when we go back again, we don't want to experience that feeling and hopefully it can just drive us on that little bit more and when those legs are tired and weak, we can just hopefully dig deep into the memory bank and say 'No, I'm not going to have failure."

"We've sampled Wembley, it's a horrible place to lose, we're going there with the mindset to win the game. It's not about the occasion, it's about winning a game of football now."

Leading scorer Gary Hooper is Scunthorpe United's biggest fitness worry. He missed last weekend's semi-final win over the MK Dons with a groin injury and only resumed training on Thursday. The 21-year-old is two goals shy of equalling Billy Sharp's club record 32 goals in a season.

Ben May, who would have been a contender to start in attack should Hooper miss out, is also struggling with a thigh injury he picked up in training.

Left-back Marcus Williams is not likely to be involved but Andrew Wright and Joseph Mills are back to challenge Ian Morris, who has played out of position to deputise for the trio.

Adkins must also decide whether to start with veteran Andy Crosby who played in both legs of the semi-finals, or loanee Krystian Pearce.
