Scunthorpe gained promotion to the Championship with a late 3-2 win over Millwall at Wembley in a pulsating match.

The impressive Martyn Woolford drilled the ball under Millwall keeper David Forde with five minutes left to clinch victory for the Iron.

Scunthorpe had to come from 2-1 down after taking a sixth minute lead when an interchange between Gary Hooper and Woolford ended with Forde pushing the latter's shot into the path of Matt Sparrow, who scored.

Scunthorpe had several chances to extend theirlead but were rocked by a quickfire Millwall brace.

First, keeper Joe Murphy was helpless as Gary Alexander's brilliant volley flew in after 30 minutes.

Then Murphy should have done better nine minutes later but Alexander's header squirmed in.

Scunthorpe continued to press on the hottest day of the year and equalised after 70 minutes. The impressive Woolford crossed for Sparrow to sidefoot home.

And it was Woolford who sealed the Iron's promotion to the Championship 15 minutes later.
