Iron boss Nigel Adkins has had a bid accepted by Crewe Alexandra for Northern Ireland international midfielder Michael O'Connor.
The player will now discuss terms on a move to the Championship new-boys and could be joined by highly-rated young York City striker Adam Boyes.
"I don't want to name the club because deals can always fall through, but this one looks like it will go ahead," Kitkat Crescent boss Martin Foyle told the York Evening Press.
"It's just a matter of dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
"The chairman has done the deal and it's a good one for York City Football Club and a good one for the player."
Ian Morris meanwhile has signed a new two-year deal with the club.
