Blades skipper hails Wilson impact

Michael Doyle has hailed Danny Wilson’s impact at Sheffield United Football Club.

Many Blades fans were upset when the Bramall Lane club appointed Wilson last summer, due to his strong connections with Wednesday who he served as player and manager.

However, the 52-year-old has steered United to the League One playoff final, in which they take on Huddersfield Town, and Doyle believes he deserves praise for doing so.

"It's great for the club after last season and credit to the manager for coming in last summer and galvanising," the 30-year-old midfielder told the club's official website.

"After the disappointment of not getting promoted automatically we have now achieved part one of succeeding through the play-offs.

“Now we have to perform on the big day. I know it will be a tough task, but I'm excited about playing at Wembley. It's in our hands to finish the job off at the weekend."
