Chris Kirkland has agreed a two-year contract at Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper has spent the past six years at Wigan Athletic, but his time at the club has been interrupted by a string of injury problems.
Once rated as one of the best young shot-stoppers in the country, the England international cap has now left the Latics at the end of his contract and decided on a move to the Owls.
"This is a fantastic move for me and I am delighted to be here,” Kirkland told the official website of the recently promoted Championship club.
"I'm chomping at the bit to start playing again and to join a club like Wednesday at this time is a great move, although there is great competition for places, which is great.”
