Steve Tilson praised his side after their hard-fought success at Colchester on Saturday.

He told the official club website: "This was exactly the type of game we needed after the defeat to Crewe.

"It wasn't the greatest of games and we had to dig in for the three points, but it was hard to play football on this pitch because it was very bobbly.

"But the lads could not have given me any more effort today.

"They fought hard for every ball and in particular, I thought that Peter Clarke was immense."
