Stockport manager Jim Gannon could be on his way to the soon-to-be vacant hot-seat at Oldham thletic.

Oldham are keen to swiftly appoint a new boss in the wake of Joe Royle's announcement that he will leave at the end of the season and Oldham are already seeking a fresh candidate.

Oldham Chairman Simon Blitz revealed: "We're not throwing any names out, we're playing a wait-and-see game but hopefully we'll have some news in the next seven to 10 days.

"We knew we would probably be going with somebody new in the summer so we didn't want to make the appointment 100 per cent nine games ago. We wanted to have that chance to make an appointment in the summer."
