Stockport County Football Club intend to keep Sam Barnes for a little while longer.

The young striker has caught the attention of Manchester United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has advised Sir Alex Ferguson to make a summer swoop.

However, despite the financial difficulties of the League One club from Edgeley Park, the Premier League champions have a fight to lure Barnes.

“Even if we come out of administration there is not going to be a lot of money to spend,” said County boss Gary Ablett. “We’re going to have to reply on players like Sam to take us forward.”
