James Beattie talked himself out of a move to Fulham Football Club on deadline day.

The powerful forward moved from Sheffield United to Stoke City last January, and his goals helped the Potters retain their Premier League status.

He has fallen out with Tony Pulis in recent weeks, though, and Roy Hodgson hoped he would recapture his best form with a move to Craven Cottage.

It looked as though a deal would be rushed through to beat the 5pm deadline on Monday, with a £2.5million fee agreed and a medical passed.

However, The Sun claim Beattie, 31, talked himself out of a move to the capital by demanding wages of £45,000-per-week, something Hodgson’s club rebuffed.
