Tony Pulis believes Matthew Etherington and Ryan Shawcross are good enough for England.

Speaking after Stoke City’s 3-0 win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, Pulis was full of praise for winger Etherington and defender Shawcross.

“Matt has been absolutely outstanding and I just think that if he was playing for a bigger club, people would be talking about him (for an England call-up),” he said.

"Matty is playing some fantastic football this season. I don't think I have to talk Matty up - just look at his performances. I still think there are some places up for grabs.

"I am sure there will be plenty of people talking about him and Ryan Shawcross for England call-ups. But (Fabio) Capello is his own man and could make a few late changes to the squad."
