Arsenal Football Club did not try and sign Thomas Sorensen last month.

It has been claimed that the Gunners looked at adding the Danish international to their squad during the winter, as competition for Manuel Almunia.

Sorensen faces a fight on his hands to retain the number one goalkeeper jersey at Stoke City, after Tony Pulis signed Asmir Begovic from Portsmouth for £3.25million.

However, when asked if he had considered making an offer for the former Aston Villa and Sunderland shot-stopper, Wenger replied: "No. No.”
