Steve Bruce believes injuries have cost Sunderland Football Club again.

The Black Cats are already without influential midfielder Lee Cattermole again, whilst Kenwyne Jones lasted just 45 minutes of the clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Trinidadian had headed the home side ahead against the Blues, who hit back with a last minute leveller through Adam Johnson, much to the frustration of Bruce.

"I think we've got to say it's a fair result overall, but when you get so close, obviously it's disappointing," he said. "The injury to Kenwyne disrupted us.

“We lost him through injury, that's the story of our season so far. We've lost too many through injuries. It has disrupted us and when you get so close it's hard to take."
