Sunderland Football Club will try again for Habib Beye in the summer.
Steve Bruce wanted to sign the 32-year-old before the start of this season, but he was pipped to the post when Aston Villa took him from Newcastle United.
However, Beye has only started five times for Martin O’Neill’s side in the Premier League this season, and he is eager to quit when the window reopens.
It is believed the Black Cats will try again for the left fullback, but they could face competition from Fulham if they fail to take Nicky Shorey on a permanent basis from, ironically, Villa.
