Steve Bruce admits he wants to take Alan Hutton on a permanent basis.

The Tottenham Hotspur fullback is on loan at Sunderland, but Bruce admits he would like to make the move permanent when the transfer window reopens.

“If he was available in the summer, of course, I would be interested,” said the Black Cats boss. "He has done particularly well for us and has slipped into the team very nicely."

The 25-year-old Scotland international, formerly of Rangers, cost Spurs a fee in the region of £8million, and Harry Redknapp would want to recoup much of this.
