Sunderland Football Club have been impressed with Pavel Pogrebnyak.

The Russian international joined Fulham on loan during the January window, and he has scored five goals in just three Premier League matches.

It is no surprise, then, that Martin Jol is keen to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent deal when his contract with Stuttgart expires in the summer.

However, Fans FC understand that Martin O’Neill, the Sunderland manager, is also keen on Pogrebnyak, and could rival the Cottagers for his signature.
