Tottenham Hotspur glad to have kept Pav
Harry Redknapp is glad he blocked Roman Pavlyuchenko’s request to leave Tottenham Hotspur Football Club during the winter transfer window.
The Russian international was well down the pecking order at White Hart Lane, and Lokomotiv Moscow were interested in adding him to their squad.
Redknapp refused to sell him though, and since Robbie Keane’s loan move to Celtic, Pavlyuchenko has found his best form with eight goals in six appearances.
“Pavlyuchenko is a terrific finisher. The transfer window came and went and he realised he wasn't going back to Russia," said the Spurs manager.
"He was wanting that, the way he was playing and training, but we didn't want to sell him. He's got his chance and given me a nice problem. The form he's in gives us every chance of fourth.”
