Tranmere release four
12:00 AM 25 May, 2009
Tranmere have released Edrissa Sonko, Adnan Ahmed, Luke Waterfall and Danny Holmes.

"I'd like to thank the four players for their time at Prenton Park and wish them all the best for the future," boss Ronnie Moore told the club website.

"We'll be working hard in the summer to bring the right players to the club."

Sonko, 29, who joined Rovers from Walsall on a one-year contract last summer, started 37 games for Tranmere in the 2008-09 season, scoring six goals. But Sonko will not be offered terms for next season and is available to sign for another club as a free agent.

Ahmed, 24, signed for Tranmere in June 2007. He made seven appearances in his first season, but spent much of 2008-09 on loan at Mansfield Town and Port Vale.

Waterfall, 18, joined Rovers from Barnsley last summer. The defender made just one appearance for the first team.

Holmes, 20, came through the youth system at Tranmere and made his first team debut at Yeovil Town this season.

Mew contracts have been offered to Antony Kay, Steve Jennings, Ben Chorley, Danny Coyne, Charlie Barnett and Ian Moore.

Goalkeeper John Achterberg has also been offered a contract as a coach.
