The former Liverpool star is poised for a dramatic return to Merseyside as manager of Tranmere.

Barnes has ended his short stint in charge of the Jamaica national team after being told his contract would not be renewed.

He will now replace Ronnie Moore at Prenton Park in a move Rovers hope will revive interest in the club and boost the falling gates which were given as a reason for Moore's departure.
