John Welsh has signed for Tranmere Rovers Football Club.

The former Liverpool youngster has been at Hull City for the past four years, but last season he spent time on loan at Carlisle United and Bury.

Welsh has now made a permanent exit from the KC Stadium, after agreeing a two-year deal with John Barnes’ League One side from Prenton Park.

"It is great to have a player of John's quality in the squad,” said Barnes. "He is a hard-working central midfielder, a good tackler and distributor of the ball.

"I'm pleased he has agreed to join us."
