Mackay and Gibbs backed for Watford roles
12:19 PM 06 June, 2009
In the wake of Brendan Rodgers' departure for Reading, Hornets fans who have contacted Fans FC seem pretty clear about who they want in charge at Vicarage Road.

Dave Fawcett told us: 'Disappointed after Brendan's 100% committment statement.

'Let's get settled again with a long term managerial prospect. I feel we've been unsettled since Lewington.

'Let's go for Nigel Gibbs or Malc Mackay. Maybe offer a three year contract. Nigel, Malc and even Luther are great characters with 'bags'of experience. Steady the 'good ship' 'orns.'

Bob Bell agreed, saying: 'Stability at all levels in the club is vital. It's been turmoil for ages.

'A good choice for manager this time is absolutely essential as the next 1 to 3 years will be extremely difficult. So pleased that GT is back. He's a man of real integrity. Malky with Gibbs as his assistant would also be my choice.'

Peter Clark adds: 'I hope that Nigel Gibbs will be given the chance to begin his managerial career with the club he loves and always stayed true to throughout his playing life - a wonderful man.'
