Tottenham Hotspur expected to bid for Upson
02:00 PM 08 February, 2010
Matthew Upson has again been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

The 30-year-old has just over twelve months remaining on his contract at West Ham United, and the Upton Park club are willing to cash in on him in the summer.

"If we can get a substantial sum for him then we've got to take it. It's business sense," co-owner David Sullivan is quoted as saying in The People.

"He wants to have one last crack at the big time - Champions League football - and you can't begrudge him that. He's in his prime as a centre-half, but he is probably in his last four or five years.”

Harry Redknapp is a long-term admirer in Upson, and it is being suggested that the player will be a top target for the Spurs manager when the window reopens in June.
