West Ham United Football Club have missed out on Bas Dost.

Having clinched a return to the Premier League via the playoffs, Sam Allardyce is eager to bolster his attacking options at Upton Park ahead of next season.

The United boss had planned to make a move for Heerenveen ace Dost, 23, but the Dutch striker has instead agreed a transfer to Wolfsburg.

"For me this is a big chance to prove myself with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga,” he told the German club’s website. "As a young boy I was already interested in the Bundesliga."
