Mark Ruben is set to join Wigan Athletic Football Club.

Roberto Martinez has been keen to sign a striker this month, and Villarreal have confirmed they have agreed to let Ruben head to the DW Stadium.

A statement on Villarreal's official website read: "Villarreal and Wigan Athletic have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Marco Ruben."

It is believed the 23-year-old Argentine, who cost £5million when he moved from River Plate in 2008, will cost a fee in the similar region.
