Carew leveller can’t dampen Wolverhampton spirit
06:56 PM 20 March, 2010
Mick McCarthy was delighted as his Wolverhampton Wanderers side picked up an away point.

Despite trailing by a John Carew goal, Wolves led Aston Villa at half-time 2-1 thanks to a Jody Craddock strike and an unfortunate own-goal by James Milner.

Only another goal by Carew denied the visitors an unexpected three points, but despite this setback, McCarthy was thrilled with his players and the point.

"When Villa's first goal went in everyone expected them to go on and win by four or five goals," he said. "It was nice to kick against the trend and it was a terrific performance and a fabulous point.”
