McCarthy rejected Liverpool’s £9million Doyle bid
01:00 PM 06 September, 2010
Liverpool Football Club failed with a late summer bid for Kevin Doyle.

The Reds were eager to sign a new striker to help ease the burden on Fernando Torres, and they thought they had a deal for German international Mario Gomez in the bag.

However, when Bayern Munich pulled the plug on the deal with 48 hours to go before the window closed, the News of the World claim Roy Hodgson turned his attentions to Doyle.

However, Wolverhampton Wanderers were in no mood to consider letting the Republic of Ireland forward leave Molineux, and rejected the offer of £9million.
