Rough Guide to the Pubs and Clubs around Goodison

Any visitor to Everton will find that the locals are hospitable and talk a bit! So, what's new? We're mostly scousers! There are many pubs around the stadium, and this is a brief guide to some of them.
STANLEY ARMS (The Blue House)
Situated at the top of Spellow Lane, right next to the Stadium, the Blue House is the definitive Evertonian pub. Guaranteed to fill up before every match, so be sure to get there early if you need to sit down. If you need food, you'll get a bag of crisps, because this is a drinkers' pub. Charlie and Doreen (known as Doh!) and their kids will serve you, and away fans please note, you must use the big room on the right. The smaller bar area to the left is strictly for the home fans, and is the base of the Independent Everton Supporters Club. Away fans are always made very welcome at the Blue House, provided they are well behaved, and you are guaranteed a lively jangle (debate) about all things footy before and after the match.
THE NETLEY
Situated on Walton Road, about three hundred yards from the Ground, the Netley is the spiritual home of the Internet Blues. Not given to classical decoration or furnishings, but there is plenty of room for fans, and a strong debating tradition. Respect for the home fans is expected, and will be returned.
THE TOP HOUSE
Situated in Walton Village, about half a mile from the stadium, the Top House is a terrific little boozer, with excellent ales and decent grub as well. About ten minutes walk from the ground, it boasts a large lounge where fans of all types mix freely together, and a good singing atmosphere after the game.
THE WINSLOW
You cannot get any closer to the stadium, as this place is on Goodison Road, directly opposite the main entrance! Always packed to the rafters on match day, and plenty of atmosphere. Upstairs, the Supporters Club hold sway, so you'll need to show your Supporters Club card from your own club to get in. Downstairs, busy but good service and decent ales.
THE SPELLOW
Situated on Goodison Road, two hundred yards from the famous church on the corner of the Gwladys Street, the Spellow is always busy, both inside and outside, on match days. Best place is in the back lounge, but get there early if you need a seat.
FOOD
There are plenty of cafes along Walton and County Roads, the two main roads by the ground, and there is also a Kentucky on County Road, and a Macdonald's on Walton Road, if you like that sort of thing.
Oustide the stadium there is the usual cornucopia of hot dog and Burger sellers, and there is always a mobile chippy parked in the entrance to the Park End Stand.
