Tommy Smith has signed for Premier League club Portsmouth from Watford on a four-year deal. The 29-year-old attacker has moved to the South Coast after the two clubs agreed a fee thought to be in the region of £1.8million. 31-8-10: Queens Park Rangers have added Rob Hulse and Tommy Smith to their ranks on transfer deadline day. Neil Warnock's ambitious outfit are determined to build on a positive start to the season which sees them sit top of the Championship. In order to maintain that momentum, it was decided that further recruits were required to add extra quality and competition for places. With that in mind, Warnock has pushed through a deal for Derby striker Hulse, who has a proven record in the Football League. The 30-year-old, who moves to Loftus Road for an undisclosed fee, has penned a three-year contract. Rangers were able to tempt the Rams into a sale as Hulse's contract at Pride Park was due to expire at the end of the season. With one signing wrapped up, Warnock has also been able to bring in experienced midfielder Smith from Portsmouth. The 30-year-old winger has passed a medical in the capital and put pen to paper on a three-year deal. It is believed that the former Watford man cost Rangers around £1.5million. 8-9-10: The Football League's refusal to ratify QPR's £1.5m signing of Tommy Smith from Pompey simply means the ace will sign on an emergency loan deal. The permanent deal will be completed in January now. 3-1-11: Tommy Smith's loan spell at QPR from Pompey has been made permanent, with the Championship leaders activating a clause in his contract to make the deal permanent.
