6-1-11: Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell has reportedly arrived at Wolves on loan and he could soon be joined at Molineaux by Villa team-mate Carlos Cuellar. Sidwell will cost Wolves £40,000-a-week in wages plus a loan fee of £250,000. Wolves manager Mick McCarthy said before the deal was done and dusted: “I haven’t spoken to him, so there’s nothing much I can say. A fee had been agreed with the clubs beforehand. His family were closer to West Ham and I had no gripe with that at all. “But if he’s available and we can agree a fee and terms I’d take him in a heartbeat. “He’s a Wolves fan – didn’t you know?” 7-1-11: Fulham are set to sign Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell for £2m. The 28-year-old cost £5m when he joined Villa in July 2008, so represents something of a bargain to Fulham, who have beaten West Ham and Wolves to the coveted former England Under 21 international.
