After being the guest of Owen Oyston, the majority owner of Championship side Blackpool at their opening home game of the 2009–10 season, a 1–1 draw with Cardiff City at Bloomfield Road on 15 August 2009, two days later he signed a one-month loan deal with the Seasiders.
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway said: "I am delighted to have Jay. He is a fantastic young lad, he has a great physique and he wants the chance to come out and play. Initially it is just a month but I hope to convince him we can build on that and extend it for a longer period."
The following day he made his professional debut as a 57th minute substitute, replacing David Vaughan in a 0–0 home draw with Derby County.
26-2-10: Arsenal midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is set to join Doncaster.

Emmanuel-Thomas arrived in Yorkshire this morning to agree terms and have a medical at the Keepmoat Stadium. He is expected to sign on until the end of the season, although this is yet to be confirmed.
