9-2-10: Serbian international Milan Jovanovic has agreed to join Liverpool this summer, according to his agent.
A number of clubs across Europe have been chasing Jovanovic, who is available on a free transfer when his contract with Standard Liege expires at the end of the season.
Valencia, AC Milan and Juventus were all thought to be keen on acquiring the attacking midfielder, but Jovanovic's representative, Zoran Stojadinovic, has revealed the 28-year-old has been convinced to move to Anfield by Reds boss Rafa Benitez.
"We have spoken with Rafa Benitez and he convinced us about his project for the club," Stojadinovic told the Daily Mirror.
"Milan speaks the language and adaptation will not be a problem for him when he moves to England."
Jovanovic is set to sign a three-year deal at Anfield and the news is a boost for Benitez after seemingly missing out on another free agent Marouane Chamakh.
8-7-10: Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Serbian international Milan Jovanovic on a free transfer.
Jovanovic agreed a pre-contract with Liverpool in February to join the club from Standard Liege when his contract expired this summer.
Reports had suggested Jovanovic could pull out of the deal following the departure of Rafa Benitez at Anfield after the Spaniard had set up the deal for the 29-year-old.
However, Jovanovic has moved to end the speculation that he might move elsewhere by signing a three-year deal at Liverpool to become Roy Hodgson's first new signing.
Jovanovic admits he is honoured to be joining the English giants.
"It is an honour for me to sign for one of the biggest clubs in football," Jovanovic told the club's official website.
"I cannot wait to start working with the manager and I'm looking forward to joining up with my new team-mates on our Swiss training camp."
