17-6-10: Sunderland have confirmed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, and he will soon be joined at the club by Argentine defender Marcos Angeleri. Mignolet, 22, has penned a five-year deal after Sunderland agreed an undisclosed fee with Sint-Truidense. Sunderland are understood to have beaten a host of clubs to land Mignolet and Steve Bruce is delighted to have secured his signing. "Simon is an excellent young goalkeeper and he has a lot more to offer. I'm sure he will push our current goalkeepers all the way next season," Bruce told the club's official website. "He is a player that we have watched on a number of occasions, as have a lot of clubs in Europe over the last couple of seasons. We're delighted to bring him to Sunderland. "He'll come back ready for the start of pre-season training and will be looking to push for a place in the team." Sunderland are also set to confirm the capture of Estudiantes right-back Angeleri. The 27-year-old Argentine international was in England last week, when it is understood he put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal. Angeleri is now understood to be back in his native Argentina, organising his move to England.
