Kieron Dyer was delighted to feature for West Ham United Football Club on Saturday.

The England international played for an hour at Aston Villa during the 1-1 draw, as manager Gianfranco Zola continues to ease him back into action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"I wasn't expecting an hour," Dyer told the club's official website.

"The plan was to just give me half-an-hour or 40 minutes here and there but obviously when the manager called me to go on with 15 minutes of the first half still to go I was quite surprised!

"I'm happy to be playing in any kind of game after being out for two years, but it was an exciting game to play in. Both teams went for it and it was an enjoyable game to be part of."
