Inverness near SPL safety says Butcher
12:00 PM 22 April, 2009
Inverness manager Terry Butcher is cautiously optimistic his team will avoid relegation.

Inverness play bottom club Falkirk on the final day of the season but Butcher is hoping for safety before then.

"If people had said a few months ago when we came in that we would be four points off the bottom come the split and have the bottom team to play at home you would be delighted.

"Whilst we are not getting carried away as it's still a formidable task for us, it is one we have given ourselves a much better chance of in terms of staying up.

"We hope the Falkirk game will be meaningless for us but if it isn't it is nice to have home advantage for what could be such an important game.

"We have come a long way since we first came in and put a lot of effort in, the players have been absolutely magnificent for us.

"We feel safety is within touching distance and we want to get there as soon as possible."
